The paradigm of pharmaceutical industry is shifting to research and development of biophamaceutical products (biologics) which
present much less side effects and bring added values. In biologics, as the saying goes, “the process is the product.” So, biologics are
largely influenced by their manufacturing processes. In order to establish reproducible processes that can continuously yield identically
qualified products, it is essential to have the ability to perform accurate analyses. Changes in manufacturing processes bring about
changes in various parameters, and it is important to identify how these changes influence efficacy and safety. For example, various
regulatory bodies including MFDS request data that evidence proper control and verification of such parameters.

IFEZ Bio Analysis Center, located in Incheon Global Campus Support Center, was established to meet such demands by providing various analytical supports and services required for process development. We plan to provide these services using state-of-the-art equipment and experienced personnel which are required in the entire span of biologics development but are difficult to secure. We will start by setting in place two sets of high-spec mass spectrometer system and a sample preparation system, for which demand is high. We will then gradually set up various analytical equipment needed for biologics development, ultimately to become an one-stop analytical services provider

Currently in the district of Songdo, public infrastructure for biologics development is scarce compared to manufacturing facilities, and the need for such public infrastructure is only increasing with more companies moving into the district. IFEZ Bio Analysis Center strives to solve such unbalance in Songdo’s biologics eco-system, and serve as an anchor that unites industry, academia, and research institutions to network efficiently with one another. IFEZ Bio-Analysis Center will reinforce global competitiveness of biologics by strengthen domestic bio-analytical competency, and induce investment and move-in of domestic/ foreign bio-companies to help IFEZ become a global hub of biologics development.
